As I was standing in the kitchen sink washing up today's dishes, I told myself I have to blog this done today.
I used to wash the dishes by hand and dry them out in the dishwasher. And after I got pregnant, I started using the dishwasher cos Paul doesn't do the dishes and my back was hurting from standing too long at the sink. Since then, I've been using the dishwasher except for chopsticks, expensive pans (only have 2...hahaahha) and other minute things.
Just the other day, a friend commented "I see that u rinse ur plates before putting it into the dishwasher and isn't that the same as washing it? So u might as well wash ur dishes instead of putting them into the dishwasher?" And at first, I kind off agree with her cos with our asian cooking, I have to rinse and scrub food off before putting them into the dishwasher. So that's kinda like washing the dishes already. But these 2 days I tried hand washing them, and I still prefer using the dishwasher. Reason? Well... it takes me only half the time standing at the sink when I use the dishwasher. That's because I dun have to rinse them... i just get the dirt out and load it in. But by hand washing them, I have to wash then rinse them. And my hands seems rougher than normal... ahhaahahaha....
In Asian culture we hand wash our dishes and the American culture uses the dishwasher. I've had angmohs (Americans/Caucasian) asking me "How clean can it get if washing by hand, especially when we can't use hot water?" and I've also had Asians asking me "Why use dishwasher? Is it clean enough?" Funny isn't it? The similarity in the question yet the difference in choice. So this is my answer. To the Asians, I'm sure it's clean, otherwise wouldn't the angmohs be eating off dirty plates everyday? And with the dishwasher using really really hot water, whatever bacteria would have been long dead. To the Angmohs, it would be the same answer, just change the word dishwasher to hand washing, and angmohs to asians!! HAhahahahahah.....
Enough said, I hate doing housework, therefore dishwasher is my best friend. Best would be I have a maid that can relieve me of all washing.
